Re: Holz skid plate

Milo.. Yea I stewed about that choice for days!! It was not easy. I guess I figured if/when I had to replace my center section I could always find a sheet (however thick) of UHMW online somewhere, use the old section as a template, then cut my own new one. dunno for sure, but my major deciding factor was the side skids.

RZRider.. tks for the pics! same pic as on first page of this thread. that is what I also want to do when I get the right bolts, however I see your center skid still has exposed/vulnerable bolts/washers. I think these were the ones LTRZR was talkin about.

Re: Holz skid plate

It countersunk with no issues. I used a regular flat washer 11/2" in diameter and a tapered or crowned screw as in my dupicate photo. It does have a teeny tiny hump but it's rounded, no problems in 700 plus miles.

Flat washer? The idea of the recessed washer is it mounts and touches the frame and the skid floats in between the washer and frame so to speak. Surprised you haven't torn the skid plates off! Also wonder if you are starting with a 1/4 inch uhmw, what the heck is left after you recess it? I guess it's working for you though???

Re: Holz skid plate

I split the post as this one was about the Holz skids and the other UTV.
http://www.rzrforums.net/bumpers-ski...utv-skids.html

We need a comparison thread.

Re: Holz skid plate

FYI anybody with newer generation RZR that has a weld on trailer hitch and has already ordered a skid plate can contact HOLZ for an updated rear skid. The first version will not fit around the hitch w/out some modification.

Re: Holz skid plate

I'll give them a call on Monday and check it out if he doesn't respond here as I'm ready for another set of plates for my new ride.
