Like the others said, he stock cage is weak, and your head is exposed on a side roll over because there is no bar on the outside of the cage where your head is.

I wouldn't ,and didn't, even take mine offroad until I had a new cage.

If you want the strongest cage then you want it made from Chromoly.
1 3/4" .083 will be plenty strong.

Look for a cage that securely ties into the frame in the rear not just to the bed above the thin 1' square tubing. Also make sure what you buy has cross-bracing.

I would stay away from the cages that do not have rear support period.

Below is a picture (not my RZR) of what cage I have right now. I think they are about $1200 with chromoly, an aluminum roof and a rear bulkhead that attaches to the frame.
