I currently have 550 miles on my 2009 RZR. I think it's something like 17 hours. I did my first oil change at 15 hours and also changed the air filter. At that time I checked to see if I had any dust intrusion issues, and I did slightly. I have since put a UMP filter on it.
We just put 150 miles on this past weekend and I noticed it used some oil. Not a lot but some. When I did the change I put 2 quarts in , which ends up reading slightly past the "safe" dot. We after the 150 miles it dropped to the "safe" dot. I know this isn't a lot of oil but my believe has always been that a fresh/new motor does not use oil , oil usage is a sign of wear.
I've had a 700hp 540ci BBC in a boat that didn't use a drop , and that has been held WFO for 10-15 miles at a time. My Cummins diesel doesn't use any in my 8000-10000 miles in between oil changes. My VW TDI doesn't use any.
So is this normal or a sign that I should take it in to the dealer and see whats up ?
