These same paper filament style filters are sold on almost every vehicle made. check the clamps after the first couple of rides. In fact check almost all the bolts you can cause sometimes they wiggle loose and need to be retightend after breakin has been done. You should be fine!!!

Well your credibility on this forum just went down the drain. Check out page 30 of the latest "Quad" magazine. (Nov 08) "The Polaris RZR comes with the cheapest non-cleanable paper air filters we have ever seen". That is a word for word quote from the editors of a reputable source. So, do you care to retract the following statement? "Do you think filter elements just came out or suddenly stopped working. These same paper filament style filters are sold on almost every vehicle made". (You should do a little research before posting false statements)
Wow...Let me know when your top end needs to be rebuilt. Please tell Polaris that "These filter issues are overblown". I'm sure they would disagree since they are rebuilding my motor for free due to the "overblown dust issue". I'm glad you have not seen any problems. Since "you" have not seen dust....maybe everyone who has dust problems needs to read your post and realize we can now leave our homes and finally ride worry free . Get over yourself! For the other RZR owners who ride their machines in dusty conditions; It is wise to invest in a Dragon Fire Racing or UMP aftermarket air box. If the "overblown" intake issues were in fact "overblown", Polaris would not be adding 18 months to my warranty, rebuilding my motor for free and releasing updates to fix all the RZR's intake problems.
West coast people most likely won't see the same dust issues as we see in the central or east coast. IMO, a few hundred dollars for a proven fix is money well spent.
GEARHEAD, If you are going to upgrade to the UMP, I would do it before you take in on the trails. Why chance having the stock filter letting dust in your motor? I had dust in mine after the first ride. Not worth the risk IMO.
