Thanks for the comparison.
I really respect the HMS system and those folks who had the guts to make it a go; as few realize how difficult it is has been to make this happen with true boots-on-the-ground law and order at the sytem itself.
Historically, our national (and many times local) orv leaders have taken a "well, we we just get a bad rap" approach to areas such as the Appalachias...without actually going in there and standing up for what was wrong with the situation (no meaningul enforcement, common-sense safety practices, etc.). They all darn well liked to collect money touting the concept...yet when it came time to crack down on what was actually going on in places like this...they stuttered/stammered and changed the subject darn fast when even
asked about it.
This system was built with literally ZERO local club or national leadership-driven support (period)..save a few guys and gals who rode (and later did business) together who were willing to stick their necks out; partner with some often traditional 'enemies' (landowners) in the community and
put up with a lot of undeserved crap to make it happen.
Good people who worked hard and deserved what they got...there's no better story out there in motorized recreation at this moment.
